Is this the cutest bakery in London?

Just a short walk from the bottom of Primrose Hill lies Primrose Bakery. It's small but sweet, and offers a pretty unique range of cupcakes.

This area of North London is known for it's pastel houses, but the bakery takes a break from the pinks and blues that line the side streets, and has instead gone for yellow. It's cheery and Insta-friendly - perfect for a spring day.

The inside is pretty small - there's just one row of seats, but luckily it wasn't too busy when we popped along.

There was a small but fresh and clearly handmade selection of cupcakes and cookies to choose from. What sets these apart, however, are the flavours on offer.

Flavours on offer this Saturday were:

None of these tickle your fancy? The Bakery change their flavours every day, according to a blackboard inside, so keep an eye on their social media.

We went for Rose. For £2.95, we were sceptical - rose is a very hard taste to get right, and even the slightest increase can make a flavour sickly sweet.

We weren't disappointed.

There may be more aesthetic cupcakes out there, but this is definitely one of the tastiest. The cream icing is thick, but not too sweet, and the sponge itself is thick. The rose water its infused with is subtle, but obvious. It's not overpowering and partners nicely with the vanilla cake. The red sugar on top looks vaguely like a rose, although it definitely was not as soft. It provided a weird crunch to an otherwise smooth taste. It's a flavour that isn't in the popular consciousness at the moment, but it's one that should be.

The Rose Cupcake was a great introduction to the bakery. We're just gutted we missed the bubblegum ones - maybe next time?

You can find Primrose Bakery just south of Chalk Farm.
